First day of the University Diploma for Disability Advisors during the SEEPH
21st and 22nd of november 2023
The first day of the DU Disability Advisor and its inaugural conference were organised on the theme “The soft skills of the disability advisors”. As it is every year during the SEEPH (European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities), the first three days of training (conference and two days of training) took place in person at the University Paris-Est Créteil.
During this day, the 102 students of the class of 2022-2023 were welcomed in the program, the graduates of the previous class were awarded their diplomas, scientific conferences were held, and experts spoke…
Creation of the first interchair network RUN BY TEACHER-RESEARCHERS

This network brings together the Research Chair Disability, Employment and Health at work from UPEC, the “Skills and Vulnerabilities” – University of Patients Research Chair headed by Catherine Tourette-Turgis at Sorbonne University, and the “Humanity and Health” Research Chair headed by Cynthia Fleury at CNAM- GHU-Paris, Psychiatry and Neurosciences (Sainte-Anne, Maison Blanche, Perray-Vaucluse).

The Minister Carole Grandjean received in her office Karine Gros, Chairholder, and Thierry Michels, Advisor Projects and Partnerships of the Research Chair, to discuss the training and research work of the Research Chair of Disability, Employment and Health at work – UPEC, the DU Disability Advisor and the project COOKINUM, winner of the DEFFINUM call for projects (Bank of Territories, Ministry of Labor)
COOKINUM is a project of operational research and pedagogical innovations developed with and for CFAs, vocational high schools, ESPO/ESRPs, and ESATs preparing for careers in the restaurant industry. The aim of this project is to support the digital and pedagogical transformation of training centers to meet the needs of people who are far from employment, undergoing retraining, in a situation of disability, in transition between the sheltered environment and the ordinary environment, between the prison environment and the ordinary environment, between the military environment and the civilian environment…
Appointment of Thierry Michels as Projects and Partnerships Advisor

After his mandate as Deputy of the Bas-Rhin until 2022, Thierry Michels accepted the proposal of the Steering Committee of the Disability, Employment and Health Research Chair at Work to be part of this team, as Advisor Projects and Partnerships of the Research Chair.
To continue to invest in the cause of disability, and to commit to an inclusive society, his priority is to set up the CookiNUM project, winner of the DEFFINUM call for projects, which aims to transform and digitalize vocational training in the catering industry.
Conference “Back to school for inclusion – a talent, an opportunity” with DRIEETS at UPEC

The Mobilization Day for the employment of people with disabilities, organized by the DRIEETS of Île-de-France, took place on September 23 at the University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC).
The program included two roundtables “How to promote job retention for people with disabilities” and “How to build inclusive bridges for people with disabilities”, the presentation of the research and training work of the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair and two tools to raise awareness of disability created by DU Disability Advisor alumni, Thomas Lario (Linclusif, Loto inclusif) and Sofiane Chiouar (Comics de Situation, serious game).
The Legion of Honor awarded to Karine Gros by the Grand Chancellor

On July 14, 2022, the Grand Chancellor awarded the Legion of Honor to Karine Gros, Holder of the Research Chair of Disability, Employment and Health at work at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC).
After having been appointed, in 2020, by Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State in charge of the disabled (2017-2022), as a Qualified Person at the National Consultative Council for the Disabled (CNCPH), after having defended her HDR on the “Construction of the professional self: From the authors to the actors of insertion, rehabilitation and re-education” in 2021 at the National Assembly, Karine Gros, Senior Lecturer SHS / Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Sciences, Holder of the Research Chair of Disability, Employment and Health at work, has been appointed, by the Grand Chancellor, to the rank of Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honor.
In the spring of 2023, Karine Gros will have the great honor of receiving her medal from the hands of the Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and the Disabled, Jean-Christophe Combe.
CookiNUM project, winner of the DEFFINUM call for projects

The first enlarged steering committee of the CookiNUM project took place on July 7, 2022, after the project was awarded the DEFFINUM Call for Projects by Caisse des Dépôts.
CookiNUM is a system for transforming and digitizing training courses for jobs that are in short supply in the traditional and fast-food sectors. Through these innovations, the project’s ambition is to bring together people who are traditionally far from employment with jobs in short supply and also to bring together the territories. The steering committee is working on the implementation of the project starting in September 2022. The aim is to set up digital educational tools and to network training centers (CFA, ESAT, ESRP, ESAT, hotel and restaurant schools) and resources.

5Discovery and Handiprint : new patrons of the Research Chair

Two new patrons are joining the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair, during the year 2021-2022.
In November 2021, 5Discovery, a start-up offering soft skills training in Virtual Reality, signed a sponsorship contract to join the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair, followed by Handiprint, an adapted company in the printing sector, in June 2022.
This is an opportunity for these companies to help set up and finance research projects in collaboration with the Chair.
Professional day of the UPEC Disability Advisors Network

The UPEC Disability Advisors’ Professional Day is held at the every end of the year. It is a moment for students, trainers and the entire UPEC network of disability advisors to get together and build knowledge and solid skills for a better integration of people with disabilities.
On June 24, 2022, 80 students attended the round table discussions and the speeches of the speakers present, on the theme of “The disability advisor in his environment”.
Deliberation of the “Tech For Legal Accessibility” prize at the Maison du Barreau

The big day of the deliberation of the “Tech For Legal Accessibility” prize, organized by Microsoft, the Cercle Montesquieu and Droit Comme un H! was on Thursday, April 21 at the Maison du Barreau.
The objective of this profoundly humanistic initiative is to bring to light innovative projects in the service of the accessibility of law and the inclusion of lawyers with disabilities and contributing to the digital transition of the legal profession.
The members of the jury, invited by the President of the Bar, selected 26 projects. It was an honor for the chairholder of the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair to be part of the jury.

Launch of the mobile application Disability Advisor

A digital tool aimed at training recruiters, managers, disability advisors, diversity and QWL advisors, health personnel, union representatives, etc. on the challenges of professional integration and job retention for people with disabilities is now available, 100% accessible and 100% free! The expertise of Handicap.fr and our Research Chair has enabled us to develop this innovative mobile application on inclusive knowledge, know-how and interpersonal skills.
Download the application and discover its many interactive, exciting, surprising, amusing and instructive stories that will plunge you into realistic situations and allow you, through this active pedagogy, to better understand how to recruit, manage, maintain in employment, and support a person with a disability, including in his or her professional transition. Karine Gros, Holder of the Research Chair in Disability, Employment and Health at work, defends her Habilitation to Supervise Research

On November 27, 2021, Karine Gros, Chairholder of the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair, defended her Habilitation to Supervise Research (HDR) at the National Assembly. Her dissertation was entitled: “From the fictional construction of the subject to the construction of the professional self: from authors to the actors of integration, rehabilitation and readjustment”.
In the prestigious Lamartine room, Karine Gros passed this important step in her life as a teacher-researcher, defending her HDR for more than 4 hours in front of more than 120 people and a jury composed of experts in disability, employment, health, writing workshops and literature:

“Prevention and disability” – Inaugural conference of the DU Advisor (2021-2022), class 9.
As every year, the DU Disability Advisor was organized during the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH) and started with a scientific symposium.
This year, the topic of the conference was “Prevention and disability”. The symposium allowed to question psycho-social risks, conceptual tools for prevention, mobilization practices…
During this conference, the laureates of the class 8 of the DU Disability Advisor had the privilege to receive their diploma which was given to them by Thierry Michels, former Deputy, co-author of the report “Towards the full citizenship of disabled people: representation and participation in the construction of public policies for an inclusive society”.

“Young Researchers Symposium” 2021 at UPEC!

A look back at the JCJC2021 event, which focused on research projects on technology, integration, disability, autonomy and aging.
The 2021 edition of the JCJC “Young Researchers” conference took place on October 21, 2021 at the Université Paris-Est Créteil!
Organized by the Research Chair of Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair and IFRATH (Federative Institute of Research on Technical Aids for the Disabled), French and international speakers presented their research work on technological innovations to assist disabled and aging people in order to maintain their autonomy and employment.
Autism : Understanding for better support

This book, based on research and dedicated to autism, allows everyone to develop a solid knowledge of this neurodevelopmental disorder in order to better support people with an autism spectrum disorder.
On September 8, 2021, the book “Autisme : Comprendre pour mieux accompagner” (Autism: Understanding for better support) was officially released by Editions Législatives (ESF- Groupe Dalloz).
Co-directed by Karine Gros, Patrick Binisti and Chams-Ddine Belkhayat, this book was written by specialists in autism to provide accurate and reliable answers to accompany people throughout their life projects, their training courses and their professional lives.
This book is intended for all persons or organizations that contribute to the life project of people with autism or train for this purpose: parents and family caregivers, home helps, teachers and advisors for the education of disabled students, teachers and school principals, social, medico-social and health sector personnel, caregivers, caretakers, disability representatives, supported employment advisors, health and occupational health professionals, students, and persons interested in the topic of autism.
Inauguration of the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair

The creation of the Disability, Employment and Health at work Research Chair was celebrated on June 29, 2021 in the presence of the patrons, the donor of the Research Chair and the President of UPEC.
The inauguration ceremony of the Research Chair took place on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. During this inauguration, in the presence of Marie-Anne Montchamp, the Research Chair’s patrons, and the main sponsor of the Research Chair at that time – Malakoff Humanis Foundation, Thales, 0nepoint, FIPHFP, Agefiph – the objectives and areas of work of the research Chair were discussed and unveiled to the public. Since then, new sponsors have joined the Research Chair: 5discovery and Handiprint.
